East Austin 7th Street Hotel

Civil engineering for a 5-story, 133-room hotel in East Austin — complex urban utility coordination and public wastewater improvements.

The Challenge

Existing utilities in this area of Austin created major design challenges due to the number of utilities, limited available corridor space, and shallow/conflicting infrastructure. Because of limited space and existing utility conflicts, the public utility improvements required separation and depth-of-cover variances.

Client:

Floridays Development

Project Type:

Hotel / Motel

Location:

Austin, Texas

What We Did

40 feet of public water upgrades, a 140-foot underground duct bank, and 130 feet of overhead electric improvements

Managed and guided the PUD zoning process, including multiple amendments and development code strategy

Coordinated with external teams on shared infrastructure such as lift station relocation, Austin Energy, and water/wastewater systems

Outcome

Successfully phased the project to separate roadway obligations from the multifamily development

Established critical infrastructure to support a 205-unit multifamily project and future park access

Prepared the site for future development (phase two) with flexibility for alternative product types
