Public lift station, 3,000 LF waterline extension, and force main design navigating floodplain, highway crossings, and multi-agency permitting.
The Challenge
The project involved significant coordination around existing infrastructure and environmental constraints, including crossings under a highway, culverts, and multiple bored segments. The team had to work around a major high-pressure gas line, floodplain and erosion zones, and wetlands, requiring additional studies and careful design. Coordination with a neighboring property was also critical to tie into existing infrastructure while preserving and restoring impacted areas.
Client:
Buchanan Capital Partners
Project Type:
Public Works
Location:
Austin, Texas
What We Did

Designed and coordinated a public lift station, waterline extension (~3,000 LF), and force main (~1,700 LF) within Austin ETJ

Managed complex permitting across multiple agencies (City of Austin, Travis County, TxDOT, ESD, Enterprise, etc.)

Led public cost participation process, including detailed cost estimates, QMD review, created a 1500-page project manual, and public bidding/RFI coordination

Outcome

Secured city council approval + cost reimbursement for client (66% wastewater, 25% water)

Minimized construction-phase conflicts through detailed upfront utility coordination (gas main, TxDOT crossings, easements)

Implemented successful trenchless crossings (borings) under critical infrastructure and environmental features

Advanced waterline installation to testing and closeout phase with no major design-related issues
